FSCC Allied Health

The Allied Health Department at Fort Scott Community College offers several short-term certificate programs to meet the healthcare needs of our service area. These programs include:

  • Geriatric Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
  • Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
  • Medication Aide Review
  • Home Health Aide (HHA)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • First Responder
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Review of First Aid.
  • Phlebotomy

The CNA, CMA, and HHA courses follow the curriculum guidelines established by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Upon completion of the course, students are eligible to apply to take the state certification exam. Courses are provided throughout the year based on community need, student need, and instructor and clinical site availability. Courses are currently being provided in Fort Scott, Paola, and Pittsburg locations. CPR courses are provided each semester at campuses in Fort Scott, Pittsburg, and Paola based on community and student need. The course uses the American Heart Association’s cardiopulmonary resuscitation guidelines, and successful students are provided a two-year CPR certification.

EMT courses are provided each semester at the Burke Street Campus at Fort Scott and the Miami County Campus in Paola. Successful students are eligible to take the written and practice examinations for certification. FSCC has its own ambulance that was provided by Mercy Health Center for training students in the EMS programs.
