Bailey Lyons hired as Director of Development

Ft. Scott, KS - Fort Scott Community College (FSCC) is pleased to announce the hiring of the new Director of Development, Bailey Lyons. Lyons is a Fort Scott native and a graduate of Fort Scott High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of Kansas (KU).

“I am honored to have been named the new Director of Development at FSCC,” said Lyons. “Scholarships and educational funding enhance the education of young adults, creating opportunity in their lives that may not have existed before; the chance to be an integral part of that process gives me a sense of great pride and responsibility.”

Lyons formally worked as a bank manager and commercial lender, senior credit analyst and commercial analyst. While studying at KU, she worked as the Student Development Associate for the Endowment Association.

In addition, her community involvement in Bourbon County reflects good initiative for her new position. Lyons was the 2011-13 Event Chairperson for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the 2012 Finance Chairperson for the Fort Scott Skate Park Committee. She is an active member of the Bourbon County Young Professionals League and the chairperson for the organization’s annual Career Day, which is hosted for area high school students. Lyons is a mentor in the Fort Scott Career Exploration Mentoring Program, pairing high school students with business professionals to assist and provide direction as they decide what career path they wish to pursue. In addition to these activities, she enjoys coaching youth softball and basketball and was the 2012 Recreation Department Coach of the Year.

“I look forward to building and maintaining strong relationships with our deserving students, dedicated faculty and staff, proud alumni, and gracious donors,” said Lyons. “It is my anticipation that this position will be very challenging, but equally rewarding. The vast opportunities to grow and strengthen both the Endowment and Alumni Associations are very exciting to me, and I am eager to get started.”
