FSCC Meats Judging Team succeeds in Ft. Worth

Fort Worth, Tx. –The Fort Scott Community College (FSCC) Meats Judging Team received Reserve Champion Team in the A-Division and won Beef Grading and Total Beef divisions at the Southwestern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest in Fort Worth on Feb. 2nd. A total of nine teams competed. Nikki Harris, Natalie Hill, Lane Johnson and James Spieth

all represented FSCC at the competition.

“These kids continue to improve daily,” said Meat Judging Coach and Admissions Representative Jenilee Martin. “We are closing the gap that is keeping us from the top, with each of them knowing what we need to work on for the next contest. We are looking forward to our trip to Houston, ready to leave with high hopes.”

Individual awards went to Natalie Hill with second High Individual, fifth Individual in Beef Grading, third Individual in Beef Judging and second Individual in Questions. Nikki Harris won fifth High Individual and first Individual in Beef Grading. Lane Johnson won eighth High Individual and fifth High Individual in Beef Judging.

The team’s next competition is at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 8th.
