About Echoes of the Trail
Echoes of the Trail is an annual event held during the month of June on the campus of Fort Scott Community College. Join us for a weekend filled with the ways of the Good Ol' West and western arts and crafts, demonstrations, and view life from a different perspective. It is a family event for all ages!

New Features:

  • Friday night, June 13th, six of our cowboy poets/singers will open for Johnny Kendrick and his sons Sam and Jackson. Johnny is a co-founder of Echoes of the Trail, and a talented musician. Last year he performed with both his sons for the first time at Echoes, and everyone loved it.

  • Saturday, June 14th, the south doors of the Academic Bldg. will open at 10 a.m. There will be non-stop cowboy music, cowboy stories and poetry in the Round Room as well as the Gordon Parks Center. There will be a chuck wagon demonstration at noon, and a silent auction that culminates Saturday night. In the halls, you'll see all sorts of tack, western art, home decor, jewelry, carvings, deerhide braiding, and much more. Mexican food will be available in the snack bar.

  • At 3 p.m., the winners of the 5-county kids' cowboy poetry contest will read or recite their poems and receive their prizes. You are welcome to spout your own cowboy poetry or sing a song on the open microphone following the kids' presentation. Saturday night, after six of our performers open for him, Barry Ward will return with his wonderful cowboy music. Sunday morning at 10 a.m., weather permitting, we will meet for Cowboy Church on the lawn south of the Academic Bldg., and we'll serve up a hearty chuck wagon breakfast.

  • Tickets for the entire weekend are $15. Senior Citizens may buy two for $20. If you only want to enjoy one evening or just Saturday during the day, the price is $10. Tickets also will be available at Country Cupboard on Main Street in Fort Scott.

  • Watch http://echoesofthetrail.com for the latest information, to buy a CD of one of the first gatherings, or to donate to help keep Echoes of the Trail going.
