Lauren Sigwing begins her third year as the head softball coach at Fort Scott Community College. The Greyhounds have improved every year of Sigwing’s tenure, going from just two wins in the season prior to her arrival to 12 wins in her first season. In 2008, the Greyhounds went on an impressive 11-game winning streak in which they recorded a win over eventual Regional tournament winner Johnson County and swept the Sub-Region Crossover tournament. They finished the season with an 11-9 record in District play and 17-25-1 overall.
Sigwing comes to Fort Scott from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. Sigwing served as the assistant softball coach at Northwest for the past two seasons and earned her Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Health Sciences from there in May 2006. Her second season at Northwest was one of the most successful in school history as the team posted a school record 40 wins and made their first Regional tournament appearance since 1984.
Before coaching at Northwest Missouri, Sigwing was an assistant softball and volleyball coach at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, KS for one year. Sigwing graduated in 2003 with her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Missouri (formerly Central Missouri State University) and was a four-year starter in the outfield for the softball team. She made the NFCA All-Academic team all four years. Sigwing graduated from Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas.
