Men's Basketball Add Players For 2011-2012 Season
Fort Scott Men’s Basketball head coach Michael Cook is happy to announce the addition of eight prep players and two transfers. “All eight high school players and the two transfers that we signed during the signing period will give us added depth and improve us athletically. I am excited about the opportunity to work with each player that we signed and watching each player grow with the players that are returning.” stated Coach Cook
Below is a list of the players that signed with the Greyhounds and a brief synopsis from Coach Cook:
Hunter Pittman –Pretty Prairie, KS SG another shooter that is a little bigger which will allow him to play the small forward also, has great form with his shot and spots up well in transition.
Derrick Green- Kansas City Schlagle- SG an athlete that can play at least three positions, great perimeter defender and can score
Torrell Nickerson - Topeka West- SF- works hard on both ends of the court, good rebounder who can score in a variety of ways and can play great defense.
Austin Danner - Shawnee Mission North- PG/SG has the ability to play point and shooting guard, can get his shot off quick and finishes at the rim well.
Dominique Ray – Tecumseh –Shawnee- Heights- PG/SG -has great ball handling skills and sees the floor well, has great length for a point guard and is a throw back player that likes to pass first.
Dominique Washington – Kansas City Hogan Prep- SF -6’6 forward that can post up and step out shoot the three point shot, good ball handling skills and played on team that was state champions in class 3A in Missouri
Robert Thompson - Kansas City Don Bosco Educational School- PG/SG – guard with great speed and can score in a variety of ways. Can penetrate well and finishes well with both hands.
Austin Bass - Olpe , Kansas- F- hard worker that knows the game well, works hard and will have to adjust to the speed of the college game.
Transfer players:
Darren Givhan – Olathe, KS PG/SG played one year at Johnson County during the 2008-2009 season in which Johnson County won Division II Junior College National Championship - provides depth at the PG position and is a tough on ball defensive player, that knows how to push the ball and distribute the ball well.
Dallas Driver - Andover. KS SG redshirted at Oklahoma Christian University last year – fits perfect well into the offensive scheme, bring some experience at the shooting guard position.
Brian Brown - Oklahoma City, OK- SF played at Seminole State College last year-averaged 10 point per game and five rebounds per game while shooting 80% from the free throw line and 57% from the field and 35% from the three point line
