Horse Judging Recruitments

The most commonly asked questions by potential recruits

"I have never judged before, or don't know anything about horses, can I still be on the team?"
  • Absolutely yes! Some of the best horse judges have little prior experience. What you do need is a commitment to yourself, the team and the desire to be the best.
Can I judge horses and livestock too?
  • Yes. The livestock and horse judging coaches will work together to ensure that practice schedules coincide and that the student can still maintain his/her class load.
"How much does it cost?"
  • The college pays for all transportation and lodging leaving only your meals and incidental expenses. Plan on spending about $20 per day on meals when we're on the road.
"What are the grade requirements?"
  • Judgers must keep a minimum 2.5 GPA. The fall of your sophomore year is the most competitive semester so I encourage you to take your least challenging courses then.
"How much time does it take?"
  • Freshmen will practice twice a week during both semesters and on some weekends. Sophomores will practice three times a week during the fall.
"Can I get a scholarship to judge horses?"
  • Horse judging scholarships are limited and up to the discretion of the coach. We will have several fundraisers to help alleviate the cost of travel expenses and put some cash in the team members' pockets.
