Russ Pickett
Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach

Russ Pickett has coached two future NFL players and brings four years of coaching experience to FSCC, where he is the Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach.
During the 2006 season, Pickett was the Secondary Coach at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas. Cornerback Demarea Caldwell earned first-team All-Conference honors, and SAU was among the conference leaders in both interceptions and passes defended.
Pickett was SAU’s Defensive Line Coach in 2005, and had one player, defensive tackle Chris Herring, earn first-team All-Conference honors. Herring later signed with the Tennessee Titans as a free agent.
In 2003 and 2004, Pickett was a Graduate Assistant at SAU and was the Assistant Secondary Coach. The 2003 Muleriders compiled a 9-3 record, reached the NCAA Division II playoffs, and finished the season ranked 11th in the nation. Pickett coached two All-Conference and All-Region players, cornerback Jordan Babineaux and free safety Brian Davis. Babineaux signed a free agent deal with the Seattle Seahawks and has seen action at both the cornerback and safety positions for Seattle.
Pickett was a four-year letterman at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he was an offensive lineman and was offensive team captain as a senior. In high school, he was two-sport athlete at Camden Fairview High School in Camden, Arkansas. Pickett earned All-Conference honors as a tight end during his senior season.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Ouachita Baptist University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Arkansas University.
Pickett and his wife Kristin have one child, Lexie who is 3. |
