Curtis Horton
Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach

Curtis Horton has fifteen years of coaching experience under his belt at both the high school and college levels. A native of Ider, Alabama, Horton is FSCC’s Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach.
Horton comes to Fort Scott from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS, where he was the Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach. During his three seasons at Southwestern, Horton led an offense that broke every team and individual school passing record except one. Horton’s offense averaged 323 yards per game and 27 points per game over a three year period.
From 2000 to 2004, Horton served as the Head coach at Sublette High School. His team (which had not had a winning season since 1995) won the district 16 championship in 2000 and earned a play-off berth in 2002 as well. Horton was named Area Coach of the Year by the Dodge City Daily Globe in 2002.
Horton has also coached at Scott City Community High School, Kansas Wesleyan University, and Baker University.
Horton played high school football for legendary Alabama high school Coach Tommy Wells at Ider High School in Ider, Alabama.
Horton earned his bachelors’ degree from Southwestern College in health, physical education and recreation, and went on earn a master’s degree in secondary education, also from Southwestern College. At Southwestern, Horton played for FSCC Hall of Famer Charlie Cowdrey. Horton was a three-year football letterman for the Moundbuilders at offensive line and received All-KCAC Honors both his junior and senior seasons.
