Patrick Deao enters his first year as a part of the baseball program at Fort Scott Community College. On the field, Coach Deao will be working with outfielders and hitters. Off the field, he will be assisting with recruiting and serving as the Academic Coordinator.

He began his collegiate career at Neosho County Community College where in his sophomore season he had 15 outfield assists (a NCCC school record) and was named 1st Team All-Conference, Region VI Defense Player of the Year, finalist for National Defensive Player of the Year and Rawlings National Gold Glove winner. Coach Deao continued his career at Missouri Southern State University where he was elected team captain and started in right field both his junior and senior year seasons. He was named MIAA All-Conference his senior year where he led the Lions with 8 outfield assists, 15 doubles and tied for team lead in home runs and hits. He was awarded the MSSU Warren Turner Team MVP. He finished his college career with 35 outfield assists. Patrick is originally from Omaha, NE.

Luke Demko enters his first year as a part of the baseball program at Fort Scott Community College. On the field, Coach Demko will serve as the pitching coach and assist with the catchers. Off the field, Coach Demko will oversee the Strength and Conditioning program.

Coach Demko’s high school baseball record was 21-4 with an ERA of 1.21. Luke earned First Team All State honors both his junior and senior years. He holds the school record of 282 strikeouts and he received the MVP awards in his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He also pitched a perfect game in his senior year.

Coach Demko signed a “National Letter of Intent” to play baseball for the University of Rhode Island, a NCAA Division 1 school that plays in the Atlantic-10 conference. While at URI he was the A10 Pitcher of the week and an All Star. In 2008, he had a 2-2 record as a reliever, 2.30 ERA in 26 games, 43 innings, and 41 strikeouts. Coach Demko averaged 11.51 strikeouts per 9 innings. During his senior year, he had 11 saves breaking the URI collegiate all time record. His first win in 2009 was in relief against NC State and his first save was against Number 8 Miami. Coach Demko also received the Stopper Award that year.

He played four seasons of collegiate summer baseball for the Mohawk Valley Cobras, two years as a Sanford Mainer (New England College Baseball League), and the Edenton Steams (Coastal Plain League). At Edenton, Coach Demko was elected to the All Star team. During the season as a closer, he was 4-1 with 15 saves (new team record), 46 strikeouts and a 2.37 ERA. Luke received the Giueseke Gold Pitching Award.

Coach Demko was drafted (2009) by the San Francisco Giants in the 29th round. He developed a small elbow tear and he was assigned to the Newark Bears (NJ). His independent minor league career included a 2-0 record, 5.46 ERA in 14 games with 25 strikeouts. Demko has played alongside ex-big leaguers Keith Foulke, Carl Everett, Ramiro Mendez, Albert Castillio, and Armand Beneites.

During the off season, Coach Demko started a local baseball pitching clinic called Demko Aces. He was a key participant in the Autism Project of Rhode Island.

Over the last 14 months, Coach Demko has served as the pitching coordinator and operations manager for the Alamo Baseball Academy located in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The 2011-12 academic year will mark the fourth year for Head Coach John Hill III at Fort Scott Community College. His first three years brought a lot of success to the program both on and off the field. Hill's 2010-11 squad finished with a record of 42-18. In the postseason the team lost in the Sub-Regional Championship Game. The 42 wins was the second most in school history. The Baseball program also landed a school record 11 players on the All-Conference team and 2 on the All-Region team. Academically, the team finished with the 4th highest Team GPA in the nation and had 4 Academic All-Americans (GPA of 3.60+). The program also had 3 Distinguished Academic All-Americans (GPA of 3.80+). This marked the third straight year the baseball program has finished in the top 6 nationally in Team GPA and the second straight year the team finished in the top 4.

In Hill's second year, the 2009-10 squad finished 27-31 narrowly missing the NJCAA Region VI Championship and landed 3 players on the All-Conference team and 1 player on the All-Region team. In his second year, the team finished 3rd in the nation in team GPA and had 6 Academic All-Americans with 4 of those being Distinguished Academic All-Americans.

The first year of Hill's tenure, 2008-09, the team finished 28-26 and landed 6 players on the All-Conference team and 1 player on the All-Region team. In the postseason the team finished 5th in the NJCAA Region VI tournament just 3 games shy of the NJCAA World Series. The team finished 6th in the nation in team GPA and had 4 Academic All-Americans with 2 of those being Distinguished Academic All-Americans.

In Coach Hill's first three years at Fort Scott, the team has averaged a Team GPA of 3.34. 14 players have earned Academic All-American honors and 10 have earned Distinguished Academic All-American honors. The team has averaged 32 wins a year and landed 20 All-Conference players and 4 All-Region players. Every sophomore in Coach Hill's tenure has been offered a baseball scholarship following their time at FSCC and every player has continued their college academic career after leaving FSCC.

Prior to arriving at Fort Scott Community College, Hill spent 2 years as an assistant coach at Neosho County Community College, three years as an assistant at Pittsburg State University and one year as an assistant at Baker University. While at Pittsburg State and Neosho County, Hill served as the hitting and infield coach, as well as being the recruiting and strength and conditioning coordinator. As an assistant coach, Hill helped recruit and develop 3 Athletic All-Americans, 5 Academic All-Americans, and 1 National Gold Glove winner in his three years at Pittsburg State University. While at Neosho County, Hill recruited and developed 2 Athletic All-Americans and 1 Academic-American as well as another National Gold Glove winner. Hill has had 29 former players reach the professional baseball ranks. Hill also serves as an associate scout for the Texas Rangers organization.

While serving as an assistant coach, Hill gained valuable Head Coaching experience accumulating 6 summers as a collegiate head coach prior to this arrival at Fort Scott Community College. Hill spent four seasons, 2005-2008, at the helm for the Nevada Griffons in the Jayhawk Summer Collegiate Baseball League amassing the most victories (125) in the storied history of the team. In his first two seasons as the Head Coach of the Griffons, Hill led the team to two consecutive 9th place finishes at the NBC World Series and an 11th place finish in his third year as the Head Coach. Prior to coaching the Griffons, Hill was the Head Coach of the Arrow Rents team in the Ban Johnson League during the summers of 2003 & 2004. After never attaining a winning record in a season prior to Hill’s arrival, Arrow Rents posted a 43-26 record, won its first divisional crown, and advanced to the postseason for the first time in team history.

Coach Hill’s playing career began at Highland Community College in Highland, KS where he was a two year starter earning Academic All-American honors. Hill continued his playing career at Baker University where he garnered all-conference honors while finishing as the school record holder in hit-by-pitches and among the career leaders in batting average and on-base percentage. Hill was awarded the HAAC Commissioner’s Award for Academic Excellence during his junior year and was a HAAC All-Academic Team member his senior year. He also served on the student-athlete advisory board for the Athletic Director.

After Baker, Coach Hill played one season professionally for the Tuebingen Hawks of the German Major League and has additional international playing experience in Venezuela, Peru, Holland, Belgium, and Czech Republic.

Hill has an Associate in Arts as well as an Associate of Science from Highland Community College. Hill also graduated Summa Cum Laude from Baker University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education. He graduated with Graduate Honors from Pittsburg State in 2005 with a Master of Science in Physical Education. Hill is currently pursuing another Master Degree in Educational Leadership from Pittsburg State University. In addition to coaching, Hill also serves as an instructor in the HPER Department at Fort Scott Community College.

Hill is a Lawrence, Kansas native and is the son of Lee and Dr. John Hill II. He has 4 sisters Angel, Alyssa, Micaela, Jillian and 1 brother Dane. His wife, Lindsay, is from Toronto, KS and is the Head Volleyball Coach at Fort Scott Community College. They are the proud parents of their newborn son, John Hill IV, and reside in Fort Scott, KS.

Coach Janes is entering his first year as an assistant at Fort Scott Community College. Janes is no stranger to the program having been a player from 2007-09. Janes will assist in a wide range of areas from including: infield/outfield defense, hitting, field maintenance, study hall supervision and strength and conditioning. This past summer, Janes served as the head coach of the Blue Valley Tigers. The team finished with a 31-14 record. Janes was a 2007 graduate of Blue Valley High School and is currently pursuing a degree from Pittsburg State University in Secondary English Education. Ian is the son of Tim and Maura Janes and he has three brothers: Connor, Brendan, and Colin. Coach Janes resides in Fort Scott.
