About the Program
Our six-week program allows students to accumulate 16 hours of college credit in
preparation for the Commercial Driving License (CDL) examination for operating
vehicles in interstate commerce. In certain circumstances the student may also attend
half days for twelve weeks.
During the six-week period, students accumulate 270 hours of classroom and driving
time. Emphasis is placed on federal motor carrier regulations, driver’s daily log and
defensive driving. We can prepare a student for the written exam or they may take the
written exam prior to attending the program.
Students spend 122 hours in the driving segment of the training. This time includes
working in the driving range, backing range and road driving. In addition to the
transportation classes, students will receive individually designed instruction to improve
his/her reading and math skills.
At the end of the course, individuals who successfully complete the course will be
presented with a Fort Scott Community College Certificate of Completion.

Accreditation
We are authorized licensing examiners for the State of Kansas, and administer the
driving portion of the CDL exam at the school. We are accredited through the National Association of Publicly Funded
Truck Driving Schools.
Job Placement
We are proud of the FSCC Truck Driving Programs and are very pleased that we have a
96-percent employment rate. This is because employers hire our students because they
know the quality of training they receive at our school.
Program instructors and office personnel assist students and alumni in finding full-time
employment. Every effort is made to secure jobs for which applicants are qualified and to
give employers accurate information.
Please see the enclosed schedule information for a class date that will meet your
requirements. |
