Welcome to FSCC Online Learning

Students who are successful in online courses are strong readers and writers, budget time well, and enjoy learning by reading and reviewing information in visual formats. They enjoy working independently, look forward to using technology to communicate with others and have excellent writing and typing skills. Successful online students understand the importance of meeting course requirements and assignment due dates, and have the required hardware and software readily available to them.

Is Online learning for you?  Before enrolling in an online course, assess your learning style and technical ability.  Students wanting to take online courses at FSCC need to be able to perform the following functions: 

  1. Enter Web addresses
  2. Follow Internet links
  3. Cut and paste
  4. Save files
  5. Create and open email
  6. Add file attachments to emails
The minimum requirements for online classes are:
Hardware: Software:
100 MB of free space Microsoft Windows Me or XP or
32 MB RAM (64 recommended) IBM comptabile Operating System
A reliable internet connection  Internet Explorer 6
CD ROM drive Microsoft Office 2003 or newer


Some online classes may require additional software. Check the syllabus listed for the class on the course schedule page to find out what software is required for the course. Some software required can be obtained with a free download.
