Is Financial Aid Available?
Yes, for those who qualify. You can apply for federal financial aid at
the FAFSA website. For additional information, call the FSCC Financial
Aid Office at 1-620-223-2700 or 1-800-874-3722, ext. 505 or 507.
How do I pay for my classes?
To help you meet your educational expenses, Fort Scott Community College is proud
to offer FACTS as a convenient budget plan. This is not a loan program. You have no debt, there are no interest or finance charges assessed,
and there is no credit check. Please click here to set up your payment plan.
Do I need to send previous college transcripts to FSCC?
Yes. You may request that official transcripts be sent to us by contacting
the Registrar's Office(s) at your previous institution(s).
Is there any type of placement test required?
Yes. All students are required to take the COMPASS test or provide
documentation of ACT Scores. A minimum ACT score of 21 is required in the Math section. A minimum ACT score
of 21 is required in the English section.
How much is tuition for online classes?

Do I need a textbook for my course?
Yes, in most courses. Required texts may be purchased from the
Online Bookstore.
How do I drop an Online Course?
You can drop an Online Course by logging into GIZMO. Please refer to the critical dates.
What should I do if I do not receive a reply from the Virtual Advisor?
If you have submitted a Request for Permission to Enroll, please continue to check your email account.
If you have not received an email after 3 business days have passed, you can email the Virtual Advisor to check on your status.
Do I need a special email Address to take an online course at FSCC?
To take an online class, you must have an email account that you check regularly.
Will online courses from FSCC transfer to other institutions?
Courses taken online at FSCC will transfer to four-year institutions just like courses taken on campus. The Virtual Advisor will be able to assist you in determining the transfer of credit.
Do I ever have to come to campus when I take an online course?
In most cases, the answer is, "No." Some courses may require that tests or other assignments are proctored at an approved location near you.
I've enrolled in an online class, but I can't login to Blackboard.
There could be a variety of reasons why you can't login to Blackboard. Here are some things to check:
(1) Make sure you are using your correct student id number. If you've lost your student id number, contact Counseling (1-800-TRI-FSCC or 620-223-2700) or email the Virtual Advisor (jodiq@fortscott.edu).
(2) Make sure you're using your correct password. If you've never used Blackboard before at FSCC, your password will be initially set to the last four digits of your Social Security number (you can change your password later after you login). If you have used Blackboard before at FSCC, your password will be whatever it was the last time you used it. If you've forgot your password, ask your instructor to reset your password for you.
(3) You may be trying to login to Blackboard too early. Blackboard courses are not opened up to students until the first day of classes.
(4) There may be some other problem with your enrollment, such as non-payment of tuition, full classes, etc. Contact Counseling (1-800-TRI-FSCC or 620-223-2700) or email the Virtual Advisor to confirm whether or not you are officially enrolled.
(5) Email the instructor of the class. You can find the instructor's email on the course syllabus. Course syllabi are posted on the campus website under "Online Classes" .
When I log into Blackboard, the online class that I'm taking is not listed on my Welcome screen.
(1) You may be trying to login to a course too early. Blackboard courses are not opened up to students until the first day of classes.
(2) If the class has already started, email the instructor. The instructor can verify whether or not the class has been opened up to students yet. He/she can also verify whether you are officially enrolled and can add you to the Blackboard class if needed. You can find the instructor's email on the course syllabus. Course syllabi are posted on the campus website under "Online Classes".
The semester has started, but I haven't heard from my instructor yet.
(1) Email the instructor of the class. You can find the instructor's email on the course syllabus. Course syllabi are posted on the campus website under "Online Classes" .
(2) Also, be sure to check your own email address in Blackboard (under "Personal Information"). Your email address in Blackboard is the only way that your instructor has of contacting you, so it's very important that you keep it current and accurate.
