FSCC Names Whitney Rogers 2017 Outstanding Young Alumna

Fort Scott, Kan.—Fort Scott Community College is pleased to announce Whitney Rogers has been selected as the 2017 Outstanding Young Alumna by the FSCC Alumni and Friends Board of Directors. FSCC will host a reception to honor Rogers and Timbi West, the 2017 Outstanding Alumna, at 10:30 am on Friday, May 19, in the meeting rooms of the Danny & Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center, 2108 South Horton, Fort Scott. Rogers will speak at the 9:00 am graduation ceremony on May 19.

FSCC Names Timbi West 2017 Outstanding Alumna

Fort Scott, Kan.—Fort Scott Community College is pleased to announce Timbi West, APRN, FNP, has been selected as the 2017 Outstanding Alumna by the FSCC Alumni and Friends Board of Directors. FSCC will host a reception to honor West and Whitney Rogers, the 2017 Outstanding Young Alumna, at 10:30 am on Friday, May 19, in the meeting rooms of the Danny & Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center, 2108 South Horton, Fort Scott. West will speak at the noon graduation ceremony on May 19.

Fort Scott Community College names Gina Shelton 2016 Outstanding Young Alumna

Fort Scott, Kan.—Fort Scott Community College is pleased to announce that Gina Shelton has been selected as the 2016 Outstanding Young Alumna by the FSCC Alumni and Friends Board of Directors. FSCC will host a reception to honor Shelton and Dr. Paul W. Grimes, the 2016 Outstanding Alumnus, at 2:00 pm Friday, May 13. Shelton will also speak at the FSCC 9:00 am graduation ceremony on Friday, May 13.

Fort Scott Community College Names Dr. Paul W. Grimes 2016 Outstanding Alumnus

Fort Scott, Kan.—Fort Scott Community College is pleased to announce that Dr. Paul W. Grimes has been selected as the 2016 Outstanding Alumnus by the FSCC Alumni and Friends Board of Directors. FSCC will host a reception to honor Dr. Grimes and Gina Shelton, the 2016 Outstanding Young Alumna, at 2:00 pm Friday, May 13. Dr. Grimes will also speak at the FSCC 4:00 pm graduation ceremony on Friday, May 13.

 

Blake Shepard Benefit Game

Fort Scott Community College student and baseball player Blake Shepard passed away Monday night. Shepard was a freshmen from Ponca City, OK.

 

Head baseball coach, John Hill writes, "After 8 days of struggle, his body gave out and he is now in a better place than any of us."

 

Hill continues, "We had planned on a benefit game to assist his family with hotels, food, missed work income and other incurred expenses. After speaking with his parents, they have given us their blessing to continue to do so."

 

Ken Lyon named FSCC Alumnus of the Year

Fort Scott, KS- Fort Scott Community College is pleased to name Ken Lyon as the 2015 Alumnus of the Year.  The FSCC Alumni and Friends Board selected Lyon for this honor.

 

Interim President Dick Hedges said, “FSCC recognizes both Ken’s valorous service to our nation and his work for Fort Scott.”

 

“Ken embodies the civic spirit that we work to instill in our graduates.”

 

Bo Casper named FSCC’s 2015 Outstanding Young Alumnus

Fort Scott, KS- Fort Scott Community College is pleased to name Bo Casper as the 2015 Young Alumnus of the Year.  The FSCC Alumni and Friends Board selected Casper for this honor.

 

Head Rodeo Coach Chad Cross and former Young Alumnus honoree said, “My greatest hope as a coach is that my students will grow into good citizens that give back to our communities.”

 

“Bo is a great example.”

 

FSCC alum and steer wrestler, Stewart Gulager wins big at The American.

Fort Scott, KS- Stewart Gulager came in at 4.2 seconds and first place in RFD-TV’s The American semi-final, shootout steer wrestling competition on Sunday, February 22.  This was good enough to win Stewart Gulager a $25,000 pot and a slot in The American’s finals held next week in Dallas.

 

The American’s semi-final rounds held in Fort Worth gave out $500,000.  The finals are expected to give out $2 million.
